Our Beliefs

The Bible

We believe the Bible is God’s Word — His true and trustworthy message to us — and it tells the true story of His love for us. Through it, we learn who God is, what He’s done through Jesus, and how we can live in relationship with Him and with one another. Everything we believe and do as a church is grounded in what the Bible teaches (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

God

We believe there is one true God who has always existed and who reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Though He is one (Mark 12:29), He exists in three Persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) who are perfectly united in love and purpose. God invites us to know Him, love Him, and surrender our lives to Him (Matthew 28:19).

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully human. He came to restore our broken relationship with God through His life, death, and resurrection. Jesus is the only One who can bring us back to God and give us new and lasting life in Him (John 14:6; Acts 4:12).

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is God — active, present, and at work in our world today. He lives within everyone who follows Jesus, guiding us in truth, transforming us from the inside out, and giving us the strength and love we need to serve others and live as new creations in Christ (John 16:7-14; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 6:17).

People

We believe every person is created by God in His image (Genesis 1:27), which means every life has incredible value and dignity (James 3:9-10). But we also recognize that all of us have turned away from God and tried to live life on our own, which leaves us separated from Him. Only through God’s grace and love — shown to us in Jesus — can our relationship with Him be restored (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:1). We become most alive when our hearts are centered on Him.

Restoration (Salvation)

We believe God is in the business of restoration — healing the broken relationship between Himself and people through Jesus (also called "salvation"). When the Holy Spirit changes our hearts and we place our trust in Jesus, we are made new (John 1:12-13). One day, God will make all things new — restoring His creation to a place of beauty, joy, and peace, where there will be no more pain or sorrow, only life with Him forever (Romans 8:18-30; Genesis 1:27-31; Revelation 21:1-8).

Good Works

We believe that good works can’t make us right with God — only His grace through Jesus can (Ephesians 2:8-9; James 2:17). But when we put our faith in Jesus, that faith naturally leads to a life of love and service. Following God’s ways doesn’t restrict us; it sets us free. His commands are life-giving and help us become the people He created us to be.

The Church

We believe the Church is not a building but a community — God’s family made up of people from every background who are united by faith in Jesus. Together, we worship, grow, and serve, encouraging one another and sharing God’s love with our neighbors and the world (Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:24-25).

Marriage

We believe God created men and women in His image — equal in worth and dignity, yet uniquely designed to complement one another. God also designed marriage to be a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, where love, faithfulness, and grace reflect Christ’s love for His Church.

Beginning a Relationship with Jesus

A relationship with Jesus starts with recognizing that we need Him — that we can’t fix our brokenness on our own. God invites each of us to turn to Him, trust in what Jesus has done for us, and receive His forgiveness and new life.

Here’s a simple prayer you can use to express that faith:

“God, I know I’ve gone my own way and need Your forgiveness. Thank You for sending Jesus to die for me and rise again so I can have new life. I trust in You and surrender my life to You. Please change my heart, fill me with Your Spirit, and help me follow You from this day forward. Amen.”

If you prayed this prayer, or if you’d like to learn more about who Jesus is, we’d love to talk with you. Please connect with our Pastor or one of our team members after worship — we want to walk with you as you grow in your new life with Him.

Our Community

What kind of church is Hope Presbyterian?

We’re a new and growing church plant in Ocean Springs. Our heart is simple — to share the hope of Jesus, live in community, and grow together in faith. We’re part of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), rooted in Scripture and centered on the gospel of grace.

What does "church plant" mean?

It means we’re a new church — growing together, learning to do life together in light of the gospel, and taking the hope of Jesus together out into our community.

Where do you meet?

We gather every Sunday morning at the Ocean Springs Civic Center. It’s a welcoming space where we come together for worship, conversation, and community. Our hope is that when you visit, you’ll quickly feel welcomed and find a place where you truly belong.

What should I expect when I visit?

You’ll experience Christ-centered preaching, prayer, and music in a simple, welcoming environment. There’s no dress code — come as you are. We share life, laugh together, and often linger after worship to enjoy fellowship and conversation.

What about kids?

We love kids! Jesus welcomed children, and we want to do the same. Children are always welcome in worship, and childcare is available for little ones under age 4 during the service.

How can I get involved?

The best way to start is to join us on a Sunday! You can also get connected through gatherings and meals together, and small groups for men and women as our community grows. Whether you’re exploring faith or looking for a church home, there’s a place for you here.
